Where can I find Team Building Statistics?

By Emily On January 5, 2010 1 COMMENT

I’m doing a project on the effectiveness of team building in the workplace. Is there anyway to get good statistics on the cost and results of team building (changes in productivity)?

Also I heard a rumor that the Harvard Business Review has an article on Toyota toting team building and that there was new data coming out disputing Toyota’s claims. However I can not find it, do I have the wrong website, search terms?

I think that the article from the Harvard Business Review you are referencing is:

The Contradictions That Drive Toyota’s Success.Takeuchi, Hirotaka; Osono, Emi; Shimizu, Norihiko. Harvard Business Review, Jun2008, Vol. 86 Issue 6, p96-104

You can read an abstract of it at the Harvard Business Review site:

However, in order to read the whole article, you will either need to purchase it from the website or check to see if your local public or academic library has a subscription (either print

Can someone suggest a great venue for a team-building activity that is cheap and can accommodate 300 people?

By Emily On December 31, 2009 6 COMMENTs

We’re a student org that is composed of 300 people. I need a venue that is cheap, has great team-building activities and has activity facilitators, has seminar halls, great accomodations (preferably airconed rooms) for overnight stay or 3days-2nights, around Batangas, Laguna, Cavite or Rizal areas, serves great food in buffet style, wonderful scenery/ambience. Please help me! I really need answers since our TBS will be on September 1 already.

The Art Of Building A Successful Team

By Emily On December 31, 2009 15 COMMENTs

In order for your career to grow, you must demonstrate effective leadership skills. Organizations are finally beginning to realize that soft skills are just as important as technical skills and therefore, are placing more emphasis on developing and rewarding effective leaders. One important skill for leaders to master is the ability to recruit high-potential talent into the organization.

The responsibility of recruiting these candidates doesn’t fall solely on the shoulders of your recruiter. There are many ways that you can enhance their efforts to attract the most sought after candidates. Recruiting shouldn’t be reactive – performed only when you have an opening on your team. It should be an ongoing activity so that your pipeline of candidates is full and you can start interviewing shortly after a need has been established. Follow these tips to make the most of your efforts:

1.Look to your existing employees for a promotional opportunity, first. You

Team Building Icebreakers

By Emily On December 27, 2009 3 COMMENTs

The first challenge you will encounter on any teambuilding exercise is personal introductions. Members of the teambuilding course need to become acquainted with each other and the course leader. These initial exercises are commonly called ‘icebreakers’ as they break down any barriers between team members.

The most popular icebreaker is for the team leader to arrange the team members in a circle and ask them one by one to stand up and tell the group a little about themselves. Each member of the team will stand in turn and give their name and some brief details about their work and/or hobbies by way of an introduction. If the members of the teambuilding course work for the same large company, often it is a good idea to ask them to describe the department they work in and their job role. In this way it allows other members of the team to position

Any ideas for team building games for guides?

By Emily On December 23, 2009 2 COMMENTs

We are trying to prepare our guides for an international trip by preparing a camp for them. As they do not know each other very well, we would like to have some team building games for them. I am clean out of ideas. The guides are aged 14-18. Anyone have any good ideas?

I once did one called the Telephone Pole. It was a giant pole and everyone stood on it on a random order, and without getting off, we had to arrange ourselves in alphabetical order. not only was it great fun, but it helped everyone get to know each other.
hope this helps!

I just thought of another one…
everyone stands in a circle and theres a person who walks around the inside who points at people and says either giraffe, elephant, or roadrunner. the person who is pointed at must:
put their arms in the air as high as they can go
